Consider Making These Five Soups

by Diane Freeman

Everyone loves a good bowl of soup before enjoying a meal. It’s an easy dish to prepare and it’s a great touch as an appetizer to start a lunch or dinner with. I’ve been preparing different varieties of soup for a long time.

There are so many different things you can do with soup, and people often seem to overlook the many possibilities. Having prepared hundreds of different kinds of soup, I’ve done my best to make what some people believe to be a boring dish a very interesting one.

1. Apple and roasted butternut squash soup. This is a great one, as you’ve probably already had and enjoyed a nice butternut squash soup. However, the apples add some kick to this, and the two go really well together.

If you like cream of broccoli soup, I can tell you that it goes even better with cheese. Not just ordinary melted cheese, but a bread accent that’s flavored with cheese. Croutons are the best natural fit here, and the melted cheese inside the hot soup really makes it interesting.

Here’s another idea. Potato soup, but with a golden browned potato nugget. This gives it a great crispness. The seasoning is key here, and the choice of seasoning is really yours. There are many great ways to make this soup, as I’m sure you’ll discover for yourself.

4. Pumpkin soup. A great option for the fall holiday, and a tasty treat as well. Add some spices into this one for an extra touch. It can be served both hot and cold, and I’d suggest sprinkling in a bit of pepper or other seasoning to give it an extra kick.

Lastly, a cream of turkey soup with turkey dumplings inside. This requires a bit more work, but it’s such a great soup and my personal favorite. If you have the energy to pull this off and you like turkey, then I know how you’ll feel about this soup.

These are a few of many ideas that you can bring to the kitchen. Have some great meals now!
